We All Deserve To Be Mom Of The Year

Friends and family tell me often that I'm a "supermom" or "I don't know how you do it." But let's face it - neither do I. I basically have no idea what the hell I'm doing. I'm just one of many full-time working mothers, who wonders how she has managed to get this far along in life with 3 children (4, if you count my husband) who are still breathing, fed and clean (most of the time).

If you're like me, you might subscribe to a blog or clink on a link to an article through social media or thumb through a parenting & family magazine at the doctor's office, maybe to see how other moms are doing this thing called motherhood or to get a few tips. Well, it was after browsing a local family magazine recently that I realized, "wow, that just made me feel really inadequate as a parent!" I have no reading agenda for my kids' summer break, I don't know what we're having for dinner tonight, I got dressed in the dark this morning, and my house is usually a wreck during the week. And now that I think of it, many of the blogs that I follow make me feel like I don't have my sh*t together. I thought these articles and magazines were supposed to be helpful! As Alanis would say, "Isn't it ironic, dontcha think?"

Don't get me wrong, I love and admire the wonderful women behind the articles and blogs that I read so often, but where is the blog dedicated to moms like me? You know, the ones that feed their kids fast food too often, that maybe cook 3 times a week and hope to survive on leftovers and whatever else we can muster up in the pantry. Or the moms that let their kids sleep in their (clean) school clothes for the next day because it's one less thing to do in the morning (total time saver, by the way). Or the moms that forget to put money in their kids' lunch loans every month, so she's on the office lady's speed dial list. Or the moms that forget to remind their kids to brush their teeth at night.

So, this blog is dedicated to all you moms who are doing it all, one way or another. My kids are happy and loved, and for that, I feel like I am Mom of the Year. We all deserve to be.
